Soumya Keshava swamy temple, Nagamangala

Nagamangala is a small town in Mandya district and soumya keshava swamy temple is in the middle of town. It is 60kms from mandya and regular buses are available from Mandya, K.R.Pet, Mysore. One can catch Bangalore -Mysore Train and get down at Mandya station. From Mandya frequent bus facilities are available. Once you reach Nagamangala you can get down in the circle and walk to the temple. The bus stand is 1km from the temple and I advise you to ask for the temple and get down at the bus stop. You can also take Bangalore -Hassan bus and get down at belur cross and reach the temple by auto/taxi. I feel Bangalore-Mandya-Nagamangala is easily accessible. I went to this temple from Mysore. I went to K.R.pet Hosaholalu lakshminarayana temple and I travelled to nagamangala. I reached Nagamangala at 1.30pm and I walked to the temple. To my suprise the temple was open at 1pm and I was there till  2pm. This temple is a naga kshetra and more information and history of temple is available in below link.

Laskshminarayana temple - Hosaholalu

Karnataka is famous for Hoysala temples and Halebid, Belur and Somanathapura are few temples which we remember for the architecture and beautiful sculptures all around the temple. There are many other little known hoysala temples and I decided to explore them with help of google and some blogs.

One such temple is Lakshmi Narayana temple located in Hosaholalu village which is 2kms from K.R.pet and 50kms from Mysore. This temple is also 25kms from Melkote. I left Mysore at 8.30am by KSRTC bus which goes to Shimoga and reached K.R.pet. Then I reached the temple by auto at 9.45am. The temple is maintained very well and all poojas are conducted. Bramhotsavam is conducted in February/March every year and large devotees from nearby villages visit the temple during these days.

There is no gopuram in the main entrance and you are welcomed by a beautiful Dwajasthambam which was installed recently. The front structure is not in Hoysala style and it was constructed during the later part of hoysala kingdom. but the main structure is very very beautiful and this is a Trikuta literally mean "three towers"

Lakshminarayana is the main deity with Sreekrishnar on the left and Lakshminarasimhar on the right. After wonderful darshana I spent sometime chatting with the bhattar collecting some information on history of temple and the utsavams held. He told me that the krishnar idol was stolen years back and the idol is present in a temple near KRS backwaters. This is not the venugopalswamy temple which was relocated from inside KRS dam. For more information and if the temple is closed you can contact bhattar on below numbers.
