The Board of Trustees of Sri Oppiliappan temple, Kumbakonam, has planned to make the Sahasradhari plate and pot (kudam) in gold for performing Thirumanjanam to the Lord, besides the golden sword, the diamond crown and gold kavacham for Lord Hanuman.
According to Roya Govindarajan, chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Sahasradhari plate will be made using gold weighing 1.25 kilos, kudam with 1.5 kilos of gold, golden sword with seven kilos, crown with 4000 carats of diamond, etc.
Donations from devotees are solicited for this religious endeavour.
Contributions may be sent to the Assistant Commissioner/Executive Officer, Arulmigu Venkatachalapathiswamy Thirukkoil, Oppiliappan Koil, Thirunageswaram - 612 204, Kumbakonam Taluk.
The board is also planning to cover the vimanams inside the temple with gold plate. That will be taken up after the current projects are completed.
